The Church service on October 24 honoring Dr. Bob was wonderful. The scripture, speakers, music, children’s sermon, presentations – everything was very special. One thing that touched my heart was part of Rev. Jeff Stinehelfer’s remarks was written by Dr. Bob about twenty years ago. So, even though we do not have a message from Dr. Bob, I wanted to share these words of his with you.

“My concept of church and mission is centered around the person and work of Jesus Christ. The church is a living organism, made up of people who believe in and serve the Lord who gives them life. The church, indeed, is the body of Christ. And further, to know what our mission is, we need not look further than in the manner in which Jesus touched human lives and made them whole. Our job is the same. Unselfishly, filled with honest compassion, we need to reach out to an unbelieving and fragmented world and speak the ‘good news.’ But, it’s not enough to speak; we must act as well.”

So, as we begin a new chapter in the life of Bethany Christian Church, we must take these words to heart and continue the good work that is done here. There is much to be done and I look forward to working with you.

God bless you and God bless Bethany Christian Church.
